Privacy notice
Vareno is built so that a swap needs as little about you as possible. This page sets out exactly what that means in practice.
The short version
No account. No email required. No tracking or advertising cookies. The one setting stored on your device is whether you chose the light or dark theme, and it never leaves your browser.
What reaches us
Swap details. To quote and create a swap, our server passes the pair, the networks, the amount, and the receiving address you typed to the liquidity provider. We act as a relay for this — it is the request itself, not a profile we build about you.
Server logs. Like any web server, ours records the IP address and time of requests. These exist to keep the service running and to stop abuse, and they are the only reason we hold an IP address at all. We also count requests per IP over short windows to enforce a rate limit.
Theme preference. Stored in your browser's local storage under vareno-theme. Clearing your browser data removes it.
What reaches our providers
The exchange itself is carried out by a third-party liquidity provider. Your deposit address, receiving address, amounts, and transaction hashes are handled by them under their own privacy policy, and their anti-money-laundering systems may analyse the on-chain history of funds you send.
Note also that a blockchain is a public ledger. Anything you send on-chain is permanently visible to anyone, independently of this site.
What we do not do
- No user accounts, so no password or profile exists
- No email address is asked for, and none is required to swap
- No analytics, advertising, or social tracking scripts
- No selling or renting of data to anyone, for any purpose
- No attempt to link swaps together or to a person
How long anything is kept
Rate-limit counters expire within minutes. Server logs are kept only as long as they are useful for security and troubleshooting, and are then discarded. Records held by the liquidity provider are subject to their retention schedule, which financial regulation may require to be several years.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what personal data is held about you, to have it corrected or erased, or to object to its processing. Because we hold so little, in most cases the honest answer to such a request is that there is nothing tied to you beyond a short-lived server log entry.
Requests about data held by the liquidity provider need to go to them, since we cannot access their records on your behalf.
